The Audi rapid chargers are coming.

Audi along with Rubicon energy have announced that they plan to expand the South African charging network by adding 6 DC rapid chargers across the country. This marks the third time the German automotive company have taken an interest in expanding the South African charging network. The above-mentioned charging stations are going to be placed at:

  • Century City, Cape Town (N1)
  • Tygervalley Shopping Centre, Cape Town (N1)
  • Fleurdal Mall, Bloemfontein (N1)
  • Somerset Mall, Somerset West (N2)
  • Galleria Mall, Amanzimtoti (N2)
  • The Avenues Centre, Hilton (N3)

The brand with the four rings says that the new charging stations will be able to help South Africans by being able to charge the average” e-tron battery from 5% to 80% in 30 minutes or less which sounds amazing. That’s a huge time saved when it comes to waiting for the EV to charge and I know what you must be wondering because we were thinking the same thing. “Can other non Audi vehicles also charge at these stations?” Well yes they say that even non Audi vehicles can benefit from these new charging stations.

What are your thoughts on this? Any addition to the EV infrastructure is always a step in the right direction and is helping reduce the CO2 emissions so it has our vote.

That’s it for todays blog post don’t forget to follow us on social media and tag us if you spot us transporting any EV vehicles. The links for those social media platforms can be found below.
